3）Later that day she left her flat and walked to the bus stop to catch the bus.
4）Joan was wearing T-shirt and skirt as it was quite hot.
5）As she sat in the bus she looked out of the window. The sun was shining.
6）She saw a plane go over a forest and some horses in the fields.
7）Before long she arrived at the seaside and met Dave.
8）They went down to the beach and had their picnic next a rock.
9）They had sandwiches and crisps, and Dave painted a picture.
10）They had a lovely day.

刘章景 2016-05-05 21:36:31@刘章景 回答一：第四句as表示因为，原因的意思。这句话意思是：因为天气很热，Joan只穿件短衬衫和裙子。第五句as表示当…什么时候=when,这句话意思是当她坐在公交车里的时候，她从窗往外看。You should take your umbrella as it’s rainy outside. As I go to do some exercises, I will take a bottle of water.
回答二：before long =soon,是一个固定的介词短语，表示很快，不久。而long before 常用的意思是很久以前；早就的意思。
1).I hope to see you before long. Or I am looking forward to seeing/meeting you before long.
2).This had happened long before.
